Moving video
AI Use Disclosure
The ideas here are my own. I use AI tools in various parts of the writing process, including summarizing my notes and prompts, improving grammar, tightening wording, and checking whether an argument is clear. These posts are as much notes for myself as they are for anyone else who is interested.
Here is a video:
Ever dragged a window around while it was playing, and it happened to move in line with the motion in the video? It suddenly feels less like watching a flat picture and more like looking through a window.
Well, here it is automated:
The frame follows the camera: pans move it, zooms shrink or grow it, cuts reset it.
Try it with your own videos, full screen. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Under the hood: WebCodecs (via Mediabunny) for decoding, and basic stabilization run in reverse: estimate nothing / move / zoom per frame, spread over Web Workers in six-second slices, then merge those into a few steady movements. It gets fooled by things moving through the frame, and it’s been tested in Chromium and Firefox.
